In the Spring of 1984, Joe Strummer embarked on the extraordinary mission of continuing The Clash without original members Mick Jones and Topper Headon. Both the 1984 tour of Europe and North America with newly recruited sidemen, and the ensuing 1985 ‘Cut the Crap’ release, are controversial in The Clash narrative to say the very least.
